Chase’s Georgetown P Street branch sits right on the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and P Street, in a two-story white-and-black storefront with the blue Chase octagon over the windows and a brick sidewalk out front — diagonally across from the Thomas Sweet ice cream shop. It’s a full-service retail branch built into a converted Georgetown commercial building rather than a standalone bank pavilion, so it reads as part of the Wisconsin Avenue streetscape.

Inside, it’s a standard modern Chase branch: tellers and personal bankers for everyday business — deposits, withdrawals, account questions — plus ATMs on site for cash and deposits. It’s a walk-in storefront with no drive-through, and because it’s a newer, compact urban branch, the smart move for anything involved (a new account, a business matter, or a sit-down with an advisor) is to come during staffed hours rather than counting on the ATMs.

Claim to Fame

The real story here is the corner itself. For decades this was Neam’s Market, a Georgetown grocery institution, and from 2000 to 2014 it was Marvelous Market — in fact the chain’s last surviving location when it closed. The building then sat largely empty for about four years, a conspicuous vacancy on one of the neighborhood’s busiest corners, until JPMorgan Chase bought the property — for a reported $8.2 million — and converted it.

Chase announced the plan in April 2018, with Mayor Muriel Bowser on hand, as part of its first wave of consumer branches in the Washington region — a major expansion the bank framed around roughly 70 new area branches. This location opened in December 2019, putting a national bank on a corner locals had associated with a neighborhood market for generations — a change of use that didn’t pass without comment in Georgetown.

Branch hours are Monday–Friday 9am–5pm and Saturday 9am–1pm; it’s closed Sundays, with ATMs on site for cash and deposits.

As with everywhere along this stretch of Georgetown, street parking on Wisconsin and P is tight — a garage in the Wisconsin Avenue or M Street corridor is the easier bet if you’re driving in.
